A beautiful location ruined by poor cleanliness and disappointing costumer service ! Positive: What did you like? The location itself was nice and the surroundings of the Veluwe were beautiful. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. Negative: When we arrived, it was immediately obvious that the cottage had not been cleaned properly. Although the beds had been made, I found a hair on my bed, which is simply unacceptable. There were also hairs in the bathroom, cigarette butts scattered around the garden, and used towels from the previous guests left in a cupboard. The kitchen looked dirty and neglected, and there was even a shovel lying in the garden. I always take my shoes off indoors, but after walking around for a short time, I could feel sand and dirt under my feet. When I looked, the soles of my feet were literally black. I even cleaned part of the floor myself and took photos showing the difference, which clearly demonstrates how poorly the cottage had been cleaned. What disappointed me even more was the way our complaint was handled. The property manager took a very long time to respond, and after an endless discussion, they finally offered to send someone to clean the cottage more than 24 hours later. Since we were only staying for two nights, this offer was practically useless by that point. Eventually, compensation was offered, but it amounted to only about a quarter of what we had paid for our stay. In my opinion, this was completely unrealistic considering the condition of the property and the fact that we ended up cleaning part of the cottage ourselves. As someone who works in hotel management myself, I know that good customer service means taking complaints seriously and offering an appropriate solution, together with a sincere apology. Unfortunately, I never received the feeling that my complaint was taken seriously. To this day, I have still not received a genuine apology and was left with the impression that my complaint was seen as an inconvenience rather than a legitimate concern. The lack of professionalism and customer care was extremely disappointing, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this accommodation.
